Dahlov Ipcar

Born in 1917, American writer, painter and children's book illustrator Dahlov Ipcar has been making art over a period spanning two centuries. In 1939, she had her first solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. She started her children's illustration career in 1945, creating pictures for author Margaret Wise Brown's 'The Little Fisherman', and has continued illustrating and writing another thirty books. Her art has evolved into intricate, geometric paintings, often depicting the animal kingdom...

SPONGEBOB FAN SUBMISSIONS

If nautical nonsense be something you wish, then it would be a big mistake to miss our 
tribute to SpongeBob SquarePants! Nucleus has teamed up with Nickelodeon to present a 
collection of tribute artwork from a wide variety of select artists as well as production work 
from the show itself - but this exhibition is not finished yet! We are still fishing for some 
fin-tastic submissions created by SpongeBob's own fans! Artists and fans who submit their 
SpongeBob tribute to us by August 24th will have a chance to have their work exhibited at 
Universal Studios Hollywood at the SpongeBob Fan 
Shellabration on September 7th & 8th!

If you would like to submit a piece for consideration, please find submission info 
and guidelines HERE. All submissions must be received by no later than August 24th.

Kathleen Hale

British illustrator Kathleen Hale OBE (1898-2000) became well-known for her beloved series of 'Orlando The Cat' books. Long before she created Orlando, she was secretary to Augustus John, leading the Bohemian life in post-World War I London. Listen to a fascinating interview with her at the age of 96, talking about her life (and musical selections) on the BBC Desert Island Disc show (the interview is stored for listening here)...
